Have You Ever Wondered…. Why Do I Hurt?

pain cycle

If you are like the other tens of millions of americans who suffer from chronic pain (pain persisting more than 6 months), you may just be wondering why you are still hurting. The good news is there are a lot of really great (and smart) researchers, doctors, and therapists who are paving the way for pain research and helping people better understand the role of the nervous system in chronic pain. For example, Lorimer Moseley and his colleagues at Body in Mind are attempting to address issues in the clinical sciences as they relate to the role of the brain and mind in chronic pain disorders. Author, therapist, and clinical neuro researcher, Adriaan Louw has written a patient friendly book titled “Why Do I Hurt? A patient book about the neuroscience of pain.” If you or anyone you know is living with pain, consider being a light at the end of the tunnel and tell them about this book. It will help facilitate a better knowledge of their bodies and how they can calm their nervous system to find relief from pain.
